Welcome to Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology Inglewood Campus! This campus is conveniently located on Aviation Boulevard only about a mile from LAX airport. The training at this location is focused on Aviation Maintenance Technology. Our programs are approved by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and meet the requirements established in the Code of Federal Regulations, Title 14, Part 147. The programs are designed to teach students entry-level technical skills in airframe and powerplant.

Aviation Maintenance Technology (Associate of Occupational Studies)

The program is designed to teach students the technical skills required to service, repair, and overhaul aircraft components and systems. The general education courses in the associate degree program are designed to improve the students’ background and critical thinking. Successful completion qualifies graduates to take the written, oral, and practical tests with the FAA for the Mechanic’s Certificate with both Airframe and Powerplant Ratings.

Airframe & Powerplant (Diploma)

A&P technicians keep aircraft in safe flying condition by servicing, repairing and overhauling aircraft components following stringent regulations set forth by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the aircraft manufacturer. Technicians in this field work on aircraft components and systems including airframe, piston engines, turbine engines, hydraulic systems, propellers, rigging, warning systems, and environmental systems.

The technical facilities can accommodate approximately 500 students. The College features an array of industry relevant training aids to include, but not limited to:

  • Reciprocating and turbine powerplants
  • Variety of carburetors, magnetos, turbochargers
  • Propellers
  • Sheet metal shop containing brakes, shears, press and pneumatic drill and riveting equipment
  • Shops used for the study of wood, fabric, fiberglass, Plexiglas and composites
  • Aircraft electricity lab
  • Additional equipment used to study aircraft navigation, flight and communication instruments

At Spartan College, our faculty and staff are committed to the success of our students. We know this relies on more than just the academic coursework in a student’s program of choice; this is why we provide such a wide variety of support services such as:

Learning Resource Center/Library: The purpose of the Learning Resource Center (LRC) at Spartan College is to maintain and develop information, resources and services that support the educational goals of students, faculty, and the staff of Spartan College. Online information to include internet access, eLibrary, up-to-date periodicals, and printed reference resources are available for student use. The staff will assist students in using these or any other resources. Students are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the LRC early in the first term. Online information to include internet access, e-Library, and printed reference resources are available for student use. The staff will assist students in using these or any other resources. 

Testing Center: Students can take the FAA Airframe and Powerplant certification exams on site at the campus. Please call 310-579-9433 to schedule an appointment. Test Center hours are Monday through Friday. The Testing Center is closed Saturday and Sunday.
The campus has a student government association to assist students. The SGA (Student Government Association) also conducts campus events and fundraisers for student activities and benefits. Other Student Organizations include Veteran’s Club and Engine Club.
While no college can guarantee job placement, our career services teams work with a multitude of employers to afford you the best opportunity to connect with employers. Spartan provides students with resources and leads; however, it is important for students to be persistent, professional and active with the job search process. Spartan Graduates are employed by aerospace companies such as Delta Airlines, United Airlines, SpaceX, SkyWest Airlines, Qantas Airway, Horizon Air, Marvin Engineering, and many more.
It is no secret that the Los Angeles area covers a vast amount of space and traffic can make seemingly short distances take a long time to drive. As a student, you can explore the many attractions the region has to offer - from the renown beaches, to the foodie scene, infamous nightlife, and of course the entertainment industry. The mountains and wilderness trails also provide hiking and skiing opportunities.

Other local attractions include, Downtown LA and concerts at the Forum. The new SoFi Stadium built in Inglewood is a 70,000-seat sports and entertainment complex, which is also the home of the Los Angeles Chargers and the Los Angeles Rams. Additionally, within 15 miles of the campus you’ll find renown museums such as: The Getty, The Broad, Natural History Museum, Petersen Automotive Museum, California Science Center, and many more.

Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP)

Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP), a Department of Homeland Security (DHS), that administers the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS), authorizes the College to issue Form I-20 for the F-1 student visas. Visas allow international students to participate in training programs for academic (F-1) or vocational (M-1) courses of study.

Inglewood (LA) Campus

What programs does Spartan College offer in Inglewood (LA) Campus?

At Spartan College Inglewood we offer 2 programs. The Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Diploma and an Associate degree in Aviation Maintenance Technology (AMT).

Both programs are approved by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and are designed to teach students entry-level technical skills in airframe and powerplant. Successful completion qualifies graduates to take the written, oral and practical tests with the Federal Aviation Administration for the Mechanic’s Certificate with both Airframe and Powerplant Ratings.

What kind of facilities do you have?

Our Inglewood campus offers complete training facilities in compliance with FAA Part 147 regulations in order to prepare students for the FAA Written and Oral/Practical examinations. Our learning resource center allows the institution to develop and maintain information, resources and services to support the educational goals of students. Additionally, our testing center allows students to take the FAA Airframe and Powerplant certification exams on site.

When should I apply for acceptance to your aviation programs?

Once a student determines interest in a program, they should inquire immediately. Entry into all programs requires a personal interview conducted by a Spartan admissions representative.

The admissions representative will collect all documents and submit the documents for review. Final acceptance and approval to begin college will take place once all admission requirements have been met, which includes approval of all required documentation. Potential students are strongly encouraged to visit the campus. The decision regarding your education and training investment deserves a full understanding of factors such as the program curriculum, equipment, facilities, and location.

Do you offer night classes?

We are pleased to offer both day and night schedules to make it more convenient for those who need to work while in school. The day shift runs from 7:30am – 1:45pm Monday – Friday and the evening shift runs 5:30pm – 11:45pm Monday – Friday.

Do you assist graduates from your aviation school in job placement?

While we cannot guarantee job placement, Spartan College offers ongoing career services to our aviation school graduates. Career services include resume creating, on-campus recruiting visits, mock interview skills training, Alumni Services, Application for Work-Study, Graduate Employment Assistance (Ongoing), and Current Student Part-time Job Placement Assistance.

Does Spartan College offer any scholarships for those interested in the school?

Spartan College has internal scholarship and grant opportunities to assist in paying for college for those who qualify. Contact the campus Student Services Department or Student Finance Department for details and the application process. In addition, other scholarships in several areas of study are offered through outside organizations. A Spartan scholarship is a bona fide financial grant-in-aid to a qualified student that is issued for recognized and acceptable purposes that include specified criteria that a student must meet in order to be eligible for and receive the scholarship. How old do I have to be to enroll in a technical/mechanical program?

While there is no age requirement to start the program, the FAA requires someone testing for (Part 147) certification to be at least 18 years of age.
